What is a Notary Public?
A Notary Public is a specialist lawyer, qualified to certify legal and official documents. Their job is to certify the authenticity of deeds and legal documents. Specifically, a Notary Public authenticates documents for use in foreign jurisdictions – in which a solicitor’s authentication would not be accepted.
Why might I need a Notary Public?
A Notary Public is often required when an authority needs assurances that a document is authentic, without seeing the original document themselves. Notarising official documents often negates the need to send them by post, avoiding any risk of damage or loss.
If you are intending to use documents overseas, you may be required to have the document legalised by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). In some cases, documents must be notarised before being legalised.

How long will my appointment take?
The duration of your appointment depends entirely on the particular service being provided. The more documents you have to notarise, the longer the process will take.
Nathan aims to deliver an efficient and friendly service. The actual notarisation of a document may only take a minute or two but Nathan will take some time to make sure that you understand and are happy with the process, while checking that documents are prepared to exacting standards.
For legalisation, your documents will need to be sent to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Once processed, they will be returned to you within an agreed timescale to suit your needs.
Is there an extra cost for a home appointment?
No.
No matter where you are visited, whether at home or in the office, or in a local café, there are no additional costs for our mobile notary service. We aim to make the process as convenient as possible for our clients.
Is it possible to arrange an appointment outside of regular office hours?
Yes.
